The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Garba has ordered 24-hours security patrol in Kano and environs in order to respond rapidly to emergencies and distress calls in the state.

CP Garba gave the order during a strategic meeting with the Command’s Operational Commanders.

In a statement by the Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Police Commissioner said the order for 24-hours patrol became imperative as rainy season set-in and that which is associated with security challenges.
“During the meeting at his office in the Bompai Police Headquarters Kano, the Commissioner of Police reminded the officers of the known security challenges that are always associated with rainy season. He therefore charged the Operational Commanders to ensure round-the-clock visibility patrols, respond rapidly to emergencies and distress calls and also directed for effective traffic control to ease movements during rain.

“Furthermore, the CP also after appreciating Media Stations in the State for their cooperation, he charged the Public Relations Unit of the Command to continue to use the opportunity of the weekly public enlightenment programs to sensitize the public on security tips during rainy season.“The Law-abiding people of the State are advised to heed the security tips during this reason.

“Finally, the Commissioner of Police while appreciating the law-abiding people of the State for their support and cooperation, also urge everyone to keep reporting any suspicious movement of person(s) or item(s) they come across to the nearest Police Station or through the Command emergency contacts,” the statement however reads.
