The judicial panel of inquiry into Benue State’s Income and Expenditure set up by Governor Hyacinth Alia has called for memoranda from the general public.

This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the judicial commission of inquiry, Justice Taiwo Taiwo and the Secretary, Dr. Abraham Gberindyer on Friday in Makurdi.

The judicial panel was charged with the responsibility of investigating the Income and Expenditure of Benue State Government from 29th May, 2015, to 28th May, 2023.

According to the statement, the terms of reference of the panel include:

To identify the income of the Benue State Government from 29th May, 2015, to 28th May 2023.

“To look into the expenditure and utilization of the income of Benue State from the 29th day of May, 2015, to the 28th day of May, 2023.

“Identify all the Benue State Bank accounts and examine the propriety or otherwise of the transactions in the accounts from the 29th day of May, 2015, to the 28th day of May, 2023 .

“To identify the loans taken by Benue State Government from 29th May, 2015, to 28th May, 2023 and ascertain the appropriateness of the utilization, interest charged on the loans and the possible abuses thereof, among others.”

The statement further said, “All MEMORANDA which are to be addressed to ‘The chairman, Benue State Income and Expenditure Commission of Inquiry 2024’ shall be submitted in eleven (11) hard copies and one (1) soft copy, should reach the Commission at Court 6, Opposite Nigerian Immigration Service Command, Makurdi, Benue State not later than Fourteen (14) days from the date of this publication.”
