Where would we be without them?;
The cradle of humanity – the origin of our species;
The beginning of life as WE know it;
Our real provenance – embodying our true selves
A reversal, it is true, of the Biblical narrative;
But, that’s ok, heaven lies at their feet;
At least, those of them who are mothers;
According to the Quran
Women have always enthralled, fascinated and intrigued;
Throughout millenia, they’ve been the constant decimal;
Emerging from the darkness of the past;
When they were confined to the kitchen
Denied the most basic rights;
To own nothing but personal effects;
To neither vote, nor drive;
Such was their lot, even if it defied sense
Happily, it’s a different story, now;
Today, they are as good as men;
In many instances, they score a perfect ten;
Such that many men can only go: ‘Wow!’
Yes – on earth and in outer space;
In science, tech, humanities and business;
Women have often blazed the trail;
Leaving men, in many cases, panting for breath
What can we do without women?;
Where would we be without them?;
A repetition – yes, deliberately – for emphasis;
Because, without them, we would be all at sea
Adrift, rudderless, disconnected. Worthless;
No exaggeration: even Jesus needed a mother;
He did alright without a human dad;
And look what impact he’s had on men
The 8th of March is surely the best day of all;
Among those earmarked to memorialize our values;
To salute our women – the origin of procreation;
The knowledge of which is not taught in any school
No, you don’t need any books –
To know that your mother is your soul;
And that without her, you’re doomed;
But, with her on your side, you’re as good as gold
You will soar like the birds – albeit without wings;
You will conquer all before you – including spirits;
You will be just about anything you want to be;
Everything will be yours for the asking, believe me
And, you will bask in it all;
Knowing that you are backed up by the greatest force;
A loving mother – and perhaps, wife;
A woman – or women – the very epitome of life!
