1. Manufacturers have predicted prices of commodities in the market to rise in response to the continued fall of the naira against the United States dollar. On Friday, the naira plunged to N1,420/$ at the parallel window of the foreign exchange market.

2. The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Commission says it is yet to receive a formal notification from Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso about their intention to quit the regional bloc. It was reacting after the military juntas from the three Member-States withdrew from ECOWAS with immediate effect.

3. The Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service has called on Abuja-based Nigerian businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu, to fulfill her tax duties to the country by filing her annual returns. While responding to a post on the seven-day party Achimugu organised to celebrate her 50th birthday, Abuja Revenue Service asked her to file her returns.

4. The abductors of 17 persons at Kawu village in Bwari Area Council of the FCT have threatened to kill the remaining 11 victims being held over delay to pay their ransom money and a brand-new Bajaj motorcycle by their families. Bandits invaded Kawu on January 11, 2024, and whisked away 18 persons, including a couple, children of the District Head of Kawu and a female nurse.

5. Nabeeha, a 400-level student of Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, who was abducted and killed by her kidnappers, trended on Twitter (X) after police unveiled the identity of her “murderer”. On Sunday, the Nigerian Police Force said it had arrested a suspect linked to the abduction and murder of Nabeeha.

6. The federal government will on Tuesday, inaugurate a 37-man Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage with a mandate to recommend a new national minimum wage for the country. A statement issued by the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, Segun Imohiosen, said the planned inauguration of the Committee is sequel to the approval of President Bola Tinubu.

7. The federal government is deploying all required measures, including devoting various ministries and agencies under its control, to stem the rising inflation, as well as stabilize the foreign exchange rates, for the prosperity and comfort of all Nigerians. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris gave the assurance on Sunday, in a statement issued in Abuja.

8. A tragic incident struck in Ejigbo, Osun State when a United States Professor and politician, Richard Adeoriokin, was accidentally shot dead by a local security guard while bidding him farewell after an event. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Saturday along Inisha Road of Ejigbo, following the conclusion of a public function attended by Professor Adeoriokin, his political associates, and the son of Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oyeyode Oyesosin.

9. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a former Deputy vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, ABSU, Uturu, identified as Prof. Godwin Emezue. Reports indicate that the university professor was with his wife when hoodlums, who had been following them, intercepted and abducted him.

10. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has declared an ex-beauty queen, Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, wanted over suspected illicit drug dealing. The suspect, who held the title of Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, was declared wanted on Sunday according to a statement by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy.
