Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in a joint operation at Zamdama Hills, Balmo, Baranda, and Bagadaza Forests, Jigawa State.

Spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to Newsmen on Saturday.

He said the move is in a bid to sustain the relative peace being enjoyed in the state and to deal with some pockets of kidnapping and armed robbery cases, particularly in the community that borders Bauchi State.

According to him, “The command has partnered with its Bauchi counterpart and organised an intelligence-led raid, combing of bush and show of force at Zamdama Hills, Balmo, Baranda and Bagadaza forests.”

He further explained that the operation was carried out and jointly led by the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi and his counterpart from Bauchi State Command, Auwal Musa Muhammad.

He added that the operation was carried out jointly with the members of the Hunters, forestry guards, vigilantes and yan bulla.

The police spokesman said during the operations, suspected kidnappers were arrested and four motorcycles were recovered in six bandit camps dislodged.
