The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development in Kaduna State, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, on Wednesday said Governor Nasir El-Rufai would present a memo on Almajiri to his northern counterparts.

Baba said the memo to the 19 northern state governors contained a practical steps to halt the Almajiri menace in the North.

The commissioner said this during a meeting with stakeholders working on the Almajiri menace in the state, describing it as “time bomb.”

She said the El-Rufai administration had got the political will to address the menace.

She said all that was needed was the cooperation of other states regarding the inter-state movement of the children.

Baba was unhappy with parents forcing their children to be in the streets.

According to her, the law banning street begging and hawking in the state will be implemented to check the development.
