A pregnant woman, Mrs Queen Ajayi, has been delivered of baby along the Ijesha-Isu/Ikole road by some nurses working at a government hospital in Ijesha Isu, Ekiti state.
The woman, who is married to a labourer, was said to be unable to register for an antenatal clinic because of her poor economic status up till the time she fell to labor on her way to the hospital.
A Twitter user identified as Tornubari Fii, shared the photos of the woman with her child, while narrating how the event unfolded. She unexpectedly went into labour and the nearest medical service providers were alerted.
Reports said a passerby, who got wind of the development, was said to have called the attention of the nurses at the nearest hospital to the situation.
The nurses were reported to have mobilised to the location beside the road, took delivery of the baby and moved them to the health facility.
The tweep went on to praise a nurse who rushed to the scene to help the woman in labour have a successful birth. She captioned her praises:
“It is another day to celebrate Nigeria Nurses for the heroic job they do to preserve life. Nurse Oladipo Blessing of General Hospital, Ijesa Isu Ekiti was informed that a woman had gone into labour along Ijesa isu/Ikole road. The nurse rushed to the scene & delivered the baby.
“The mother and her newborn have been admitted to the General Hospital, Ijesa Isu Ekiti for further care and they are both in good condition”.
“Despite poor working conditions and poor remuneration, Nurses and midwives in Nigeria go the extra mile to save lives. Let us celebrate Nurse Oladipo Blessing for her heroic action today.”
The new born and the mother are said to be in a stable condition.
