A technical expert with the Tech4Dev initiative, Mr Kolawole Jolayemi, has on Friday underscored the benefits of both Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality in our ever changing world.

He made this known at a technology training session to mark day two of the 2022 Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) holding in Lagos.

Speaking on Block Chain Technology, Jolayemi said that block chain is multifaceted, simpler and a more accessible form of technology with little or no restraints.

Jolayemi spoke on the need for individuals even in the legal community, to embrace and key into the dynamics presented by the “tech-driven times”, so as to stay relevant in the legal space.

Taking Nigerian lawyers through a virtual tech training session, Jolayemi who drew insight from his technology for development initiative, emphasised on the importance of VR

According to him, virtual reality is different from augmented reality as it involves a whole different environment with the use of a VR headset.

He noted that “one could be literally “lost” in a VR environment, due to its immersive nature.

“VR involves the use of a VR headset and immersion in a completely new environment; so, it is an immersive experience.

“What happens is that, one feels he is immersed in a new environment, as everything around him shows he is in a different place

“So, this environment has been designed or modelled into duty, and programmed in a virtual environment, whereby you only have access to them by virtual lenses, or other forms of technology

“Certain times, there are virtual head set that helps you access this reality, thereby making it feel as real as possible,” he said

According to him, education will be a major beneficiary of VR as there are a number of opportunities to be derived from its usage.
