Following yesterday’s failed attack on Damaturu, Yobe State capital by suspected Boko Hatam insurgents, the Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has said that, security situation in the state is relatively stable, but still remained volatile and unpredictable.

The command on Friday in a statement entitled “SECURITY SITUATION IN YOBE STATE” by its Acting Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkareem, indicated that the attack was successfully foiled by troops in collaboration with mobile police on duty.

“On Thursday, November 7, 2019 at about 1635hrs, suspected Boko Haram insurgents attempted to invade Damaturu township through Gashua Road, thereby causing panic in the town.

“They were successfully overpowered by soldiers from 233 Battalion of Sector II Command of Operation Lafiya Dole, supported by the Nigerian Air Force as well as personnel of Yobe State Command, 17 and 56 PMF Squadron who were on special duty at the police headquarters, Damaturu,” Abdulkareem said.

The Command, according to the Acting PPRO is calling on good people of Yobe State to go about their lawful activities and to report any strange movements of individuals and suspicious persons the nearest police, military or any security formation nearest to them.

The Command also urged the general public to cooperate and collaborate with police to ensure public safety in the state.
