The Nigerian Bar Association Welfare Committee chairman, Y.C. Maikyau, SAN is commemorating with the members of the NBA Warri on the occasion of their Annual law week.

The learned Silk, in his goodwill message to the branch stated: “May I seize this opportunity to congratulate the leadership and members of the Warri Branch of the NBA, on its Annual Law Week for the year 2021.

“The theme: “Contemporary Issues for Sustainable Development in Nigeria” rightly puts the spotlight on Sustainable Development. Whereas, the United Nations (UN) has set a 2030 agenda of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the globe, each of which is pertinent; we as a nation must re-assess these goals, prioritize them, and own them as a people. Whilst our commitment to each and every one of these goals is necessary, our current circumstances make even more important, our commitment to the 16th SDG – Peace, Justice and Strong Institution – because without Justice there cannot be Peace and without Peace, Development is only an illusion.

“It is therefore only fitting that we as Lawyers; Ministers in the Temple of Justice, continue to serve as pathfinders on this all-important task of highlighting and debating contemporary issues that may help us achieve, or militate against the attainment of sustainable developments in our dear nation Nigeria and this we must do with a sense of duty and responsibility.

“As we begin to do these, I wish all participants fruitful deliberations.

“God bless NBA Warri Branch! God bless the NBA !! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!”
