In Nigeria, where a child:

•Is an orphan and deserted by relatives;

•Has a parent who does not exercise proper guidance over him/her;

•has parents who are mentally ill or undergoing imprisonment or incapacitated;

•is the daughter of a father who has been convicted of defilement;

•is found begging, or wandering and has no home;

•frequents the company of a reputed thief;

•is residing in a house used by prostitutes,

a police Officer may bring the child before the Court to make remedial orders.
