Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has dared other Governors to reveal the identities of contractors handling projects in their various States.

Governor Wike threw the challenge during the commissioning of the Rumuekini-Aluu road in Obio-Akpor and Ikwerre Local government areas of the state.

He pledged to continue to patronize local contractors who deliver quality road projects for the Rivers State government.

Revealing the names of contractors handling road projects in Rivers State, Wike said governors give contracts to family members rather than prioritize quality.

“Like I have always said, my successor will not complete my projects. I will complete all my projects so that when the new person comes let him carry his own headache.

“Let me say again that PDP is the party that means well for Nigerians. All those who are afraid and before you know it they will rush to another party. I am not rushing anywhere. How can I run from success to problem?

“You have seen the contractor he has come out to speak to. Yesterday, Julius Berger came out, tomorrow Lulubricks will come out. But in some states, you don’t know who the contractor is. You don’t know whether they are family members.

“I challenge any contractor in Rivers State; not one can say they are related to me in one way or the other. But in some states, family members are the contractors that is why they cannot name their contractors. Let them name it now. I am challenging them,” Wike said.

Commissioning the project, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim commended Governor Wike for setting an example in building infrastructure.
