Over 1,958 cartons of Dangote-branded Indomie noodles out of 3,850 cartons meant for distribution as palliatives in Benue State were diverted and sold in Kano, where they were later recovered by the police.
Suspects involved in the diversion of the palliatives were paraded alongside other suspected criminals at the Bompai Police Command in Kano.
Some of the suspects were arrested for kidnapping, fraud, car snatching and drug trafficking, among.
The noodles with the tag, ‘’CA-COVID-19”, valued at N4,411,800, were recovered at the popular Singer market.
Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani, said the feat was achieved, following sustained Operation Puff-Adder community policing engagements, including other crime fighting strategies.
According to the CP, who said the operation was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, noted that the Command, within the last six weeks, arrested, over 259 suspects for various crimes, committed within and outside the state.
