Former chief of staff to the Imo State governor and president of the Ugwumba Leadership Center, Chief Uche Nwosu, has called on relevant stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu in delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizenry.

In a congratulatory message to President Tinubu on the occasion of June 12 Democracy Day, Nwosu said: “As we celebrate the nation’s silver jubilee of unbroken democratic rule, we must sustain Nigeria’s greatness exemplified in the 25 years of democratic practice that has ultimately returned political power to the people.”
While acknowledging some present challenges facing the nation, he called on all stakeholders to support the President’s innovations to bring Nigeria to the fulfillment of the dreams of the founding fathers.

He further stated, “Nigeria’s 25 years of unbroken democratic rule is a testament to the resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment of the Nigerian people to the principles of democracy and freedom.
“I call on Nigerians to embrace unity, love, and respect for one another, to deepen their engagement in participatory democracy, guard against anti-democratic tendencies, and ensure that our democratic values and culture are firmly entrenched at all levels of society.”

He stressed, “As we celebrate this historic day, let us remember the sacrifices of those who fought valiantly for the democracy we now enjoy. June 12 is not just a date; it symbolizes our collective struggle for justice, equity, and the rule of law. It is a reminder of the power of the people’s voice and the strength of our democratic institutions.”

Nwosu added, “As we celebrate another Democracy Day, it is proper and necessary to pay glowing tribute to the memories of the symbol of that struggle, the late Chief MKO Abiola (GCFR), other democrats, civil society activists, and Nigerians who took part in the struggle for the restoration of democratic rule in Nigeria.”
