Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has denied claims that is X (TWITTER) account was taken over by hackers.

The anti-graft agency said this while dismissing claims by some Nigerians the on social media on Thursday that its X handle was taken over by some internet fraudsters after a threat was issued to it.

The Commission however agreed that that the handle experienced a technical hitch while it was trying to update some information on it.

It added that the process of restoring the account is now in its final stages.

“Contrary to such unfounded claims, the Commission’s official X account has not been compromised in any way. While attempting to update certain information on the Commission’s biography on the app, a technical glitch occurred. This issue was promptly reported to the X Support Team and the process of restoring the account is now in its final stages,” EFCC said in the statement signed by its speokesperson, Dele Oyewale.
