The Nigerian military has in custody, a notorious Informant for the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The suspect leaked information on the movement of security personnel and commuters to terrorists.
An officer told PRNigeria that the suspect, known as Goni Fandam, had been on the radar of security services since 2020.
Fandam was caught in the act as he observed a troops’ location in Borno.
Intelligence units had intercepted the spy’s communication with top ISWAP commanders.
He was traced to a hideout in the Mainok area in a covert operation led by Major DY Chiwar.
The source said: “He was part of dozens of informants on a monthly pay of N250,000 just for providing the terrorist group with updates on military posts and movements.
“He also provided terrorists with information on travellers between Jakana and Auno as well as between Maiduguri and Damaturu.”
