1. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that he is not surprised by the recent revelations about the activities of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
According to Wike, the agency has since deviated from its original mandate and has become a cash cow for some corrupt politicians.

2. The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has said there was nothing wrong with Nigeria ceding her sovereignty to China.
The Minister, who was fielding questions on the controversies surrounding the $500 million loan from China on Channels Television’s Politics Today, insisted that Chinese loans are the cheapest form of loans the country can get anywhere.

3. Bristow Helicopters has announced the sack of over 100 pilots and engineers in its employ.
The company, which made this known in a statement released on Tuesday, said it engaged with the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) to negotiate a fair and equitable redundancy compensation for those affected.

4. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday, reviewed the penalty for hate speech in Nigeria.
The Minister, who disclosed this at the unveiling ceremony of the reviewed Nigeria Broadcasting Code organized by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Lagos, said the reviewed code contained the Antitrust provision aimed at boosting local content and encouraging the growth of the local industry, among other provisions.

5. Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, and his wife, Abieyuwa, have tested positive for coronavirus.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that on Monday, Alabi and his wife were tested after they showed slight symptoms of coronavirus.

6. The Nigerian Senate has revealed how the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) management shared approximately N5 billion for “medicals”.
In a report by the Ad-hoc committee which probed the multi-billion Naira scandal in NDDC, the Senate said the disbursements, paid into individual accounts, were made in March during the nationwide lockdown.

7. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, ordered the rejig of operational strategies of Nigeria’s security network.
Major General Babagana Mungono, rtd, National Security Adviser (NSA), after a National Security Council meeting held at the State House, told newsmen that this will effectively counter the security situation across the country.

8. Over 900 COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in Nigeria.
This is according to the data published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night.

9. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the timetable for the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
A statement signed by Demianus Ojijeogu, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, reiterated that the exams begin Monday, August 17 and will end Saturday, September 12.

10. Staff of the College of Education, Ekiadolor, under the coalition of unions in College of Education in the school on Tuesday, blocked the main entrance gate to the Edo State government house (Osadebe Avenue).
The staff were protesting their unpaid salaries for the past twelve months.
