1. The federal government has demanded a full investigation into the killing of a Nigerian housewife, Rita Amenze, in Italy. In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), said the alleged killing of the housewife by her husband was quite unfortunate and sad.

2. Soldiers attached to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security task force, maintaining peace in Plateau, at the weekend, allegedly beat a taxi driver, Sadik Abdullahi Karafa, to death. The deceased was reportedly beaten by the soldiers stationed at Paringada market while returning from Mangu before the curfew hour.

3. Chairman, Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, said the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is inflicting more injuries on Igbo people with its sit-at-home order declared every Monday. The former governor of Enugu State, who represents Enugu East Senatorial District, said in a statement that the order was a betrayal of South East interest and has grounded the South East economy.

4. There was a mild drama at the Ota Divisional Police Headquarters, Ogun State, when an alleged fake soldier, Segun Ogundeji, and an Air Force personnel, John Temitope, clashed over failure to extend an official compliment. The Spokesman of Ogun Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday, in a statement, said the drama played out last Wednesday shortly before Ogundeji was arrested for impersonation.

5. Reality TV stars, Jackie B and JayPaul have been evicted from the ongoing Big Brother Naija Season Six. Their eviction took place during the Sunday Live show hosted by Ebuka. Others who have been evicted from the BBNaija Season Six show include Arin, Beatrice, Boma, JMK, Kayvee, Maria, Michael, Niyi, Peace, Princess, Sammie, Tega and Yerins.

6. Parents of the abducted students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State said they have lost faith in the government in securing the release of their children. Musa Suleman, a father to one of the abducted students of the school who spoke with reporters yesterday, said the government was insensitive to their plight, stressing that if the students abducted were children of those in government, they would have been released by now.

7. Armed bandits numbering about 20, and suspected to be among those fleeing the ongoing Military operation in Zamfara and Katsina states, on Sunday afternoon invaded Iburo community in Shiroro local government area of Niger state in search of food stuff and other valuables. The bandits said to be riding on motorcycles, arrived the community at about 1:00 pm and shot into the air to scare the people as they move from house to house, asking the people to bring out whatever food stuff that was available.

8. The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a woman and her son over alleged sexual relationship. The incident, which happened in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, has already produced three children. Confirming the incident in Ilorin on Sunday, the Spokesperson of the Kwara State NSCDC, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, said the mother and her two sons have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service.

9. The Presidential Visitation Panel to the University of Lagos has said it detected cases of contract splitting and frivolous contract awards at the institution. The seven member panel which was headed by Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (retd.), stated this in its report to the Federal Government which was made available to newsmen yesterday.

10. A former Governor of Jigawa State and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has lamented the insecurity in Nigeria, saying the country “is bleeding”. Lamido met with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo behind closed doors in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, at the weekend.
