For research and effective learning, Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria have been charged to partner with each other.

The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola said no institution can stand alone, adding that Universities have to work together to achieve the best.

Professor Popoola warned that no University should not be underrated, either by its age or country.

He said, “They probably have something we also don’t have. We share resources, what they have and we don’t have, we can share from them and they can also share from us.

“In the past four years, many things have happened. We didn’t have COVID-19 in 2017 so that was nothing like Zoom or virtual teaching, many things have happened to us.

Prof Popoola disclosed this while renewing the four years memorandum of understanding between the UNIOSUN and the University of Gambia at the main campus of UNIOSUN in Osogbo.

The registrar University of Gambia, Dr Momodou Lamin Tarro listed lack of access to high-level professors as some of the challenges facing the institution due to low funding.

“One major challenge is that of high-level professors. We started like 21 years ago and it has been very difficult to recruit high-level professors simply because of no funding, with this kind of collaboration; there have been exchanges of lecturers, professors that will enumerate the problem to a very large extent and with this memorandum of understanding, professors will be coming from UNIOSUN to the Gambia and as we say will be honorarium.”
