The Family Bar of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ahoada paid courtesy visit to Chairman of Ahoada East Caretaker Committee, Hon. Happy Benneth at his Port Harcourt home on the 6th of August, 2024.

The chairperson, Ahoada NBA, Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire, PhD, congratulated the council Chairman on his appointment as the chairman of the caretaker committee of Ahoada East Local Government Council by the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara on the 18th of June, 2024.

Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire described Hon Happy Benneth’s appointment as divinely orchestrated by God.

She revealed that, the ability of Hon Happy Benneth to still carry on despite all challenges shows that, he knows his onions, and has capability for focused and people oriented administration.

She thanked the Chairman for bringing back the lost peace in Ahoada East Local Government after a long period of insecurity. She further stated that, his giant strides and dispositions which has brought about peaceful coexistence in Ahoada East Local Government simply means he’s a grassroots politician, who knows what is needed for the development and progress of Ahoada.

She further concurred that one of the primary objectives governance is to secure the lives and properties of the citizens, and that is what the Chairman is doing. She continued by appealing to those who had fled the area to return as peace has finally returned to the area.

She thanked the Chairman for extending his hands of benevolence to the judiciary for effective justice delivery which will, in turn, bring development and progress in our society. She went further to also thank the Chairman for appointing one of them, in the person of Gentle Amadi as the Legal Adviser to the council.

She appealed to the chairman to support the Family Bar, especially on the issue of land allocation and on the need to build a befitting secretariat.

She concluded by calling on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw his men from all the 23 Local Government Secretariats in Rivers State. She urged the IGP to do so, so as not to be seen as partisan in the political crisis in the State, saying that the Police had the duty to protect and maintain law and order, stating that preventing workers from accessing their offices will lead to loss of revenue to the state as the Local Government workers are being paid for not working.

The Chairman, Hon Happy Benneth thanked the Family Bar for their visitation and also used that opportunity to intimidate them of the council’s achievements within the last two months of his appointment as the Caretaker Committee Chairman. He elaborated on his joint collaborations with his sister councils and how that collaboration has been yielding positive results when it comes to tackling security challenges in the area.

He went further to promise the Family Bar that, he and his committee would look into their requests and act accordingly, as his administration will make sure they partner with the NBA Ahoada branch to see how they can work together for the betterment of the area.
