Two men suspected to be informants of bandits have been remanded in the custody of the Katsina State Police.
The suspects, Sani Musa, 22, and Rabiu Sani, 25, both from Katsira village, Danmusa Local Government Area of the state, will be in police custody till October 10, 2020, when their case will come up for mention before a senior magistrates’ court.

According to the police, Musa and Sani were arrested on June 8, 2020, by a team on the Operation Sharan Danji on patrol in the council area.

The police said during investigation, a photograph of a man in a naval camouflage uniform holding a military rifle was found on Sani’s mobile phone and the suspect could not explain how he came about it.

The court further heard that Musa and Sani were strongly suspected to be giving information about troops’ movements in the area to bandits.

It was learnt that the suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy and abetment of an offence to wit, kidnapping.

The offences were said to be contrary to sections 54, 46 and 243 of the Katsina State Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, ASP Sani Ado, told the court on Monday that investigation was still in progress in the case and he sought an adjournment.

The senior magistrate, Fadile Dikko, granted the request and adjourned the case till October 10, 2020, for mention.

She directed that Sani and Musa be remanded in the police custody till then.
