The Intellectual Property Institute Nigeria will be holding its Trademark Opposition Advocacy Certification training for Lawyers and TM Agents who wish to master trademark opposition advocacy.

In a similar development, the Trademark Registry has published 2 Trademark Journals advertising trademark applications. The notice was made by Mrs Udoh Ime J, Head of Admin, Trademark Registry via Circulars dated 16th May, 2023 and 18th May, 2023.

The statutory time for filing Trademark Oppositions commences with the publication of the Trademark journals.

In a recent ruling, the Trademark Registrar revoked a trademark application for Domitilla issued to popular actress Anne Njemanze. The viral ruling drew mixed reactions from the public.

According to the IP Institute’s Post on its social media handles, the Opposition Advocacy Certification Training will cover every aspect of the Trademark Opposition process and will include practical sessions, case studies and strategies for winning and defending opposition matters.

Some past participants gave their opinions on the training.

A Trademark lawyer, Mr. B. Adebayo commended the program and stated “If I had attended this course last year, we wouldn’t have lost a major trademark application. That won’t happen again now. Thank you IP Institute for this.”
