There was uproar in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State as gunmen killed a police officer.

The gunmen also chopped off the private part of the victim identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ukam Efut.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at a security checkpoint at Agwa area of the local government.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the community, Ekene Onyejiekwe, said the corpse of the officer has been deposited in a morgue in Owerri, the capital.

Reacting, the state police spokesman, Michael Abattam, said two of the gunmen were also killed during the encounter.
