No fewer than four soldiers were killed on Tuesday while thwarting an attack by the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Ngamdu, Borno State.

The border town lies between Borno’s border with Yobe State.

An officer was shot by terrorists and rushed to a military medical facility; he is recuperating.

While the troops were engaging the fighters in their armoured vehicle and gun trucks, some snuck into Super Camp military base.

The attackers then shot sporadically, hitting the injured officer who led the troops.

“Unfortunately, four soldiers shot by the terrorists died. The officer who attempted to protect them sustained injuries but is in a stable condition”, a military source told PRNigeria.

The soldiers eventually repelled the attack with aerial support by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
