The Immediate Past National Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ewenode O. William, has condole with the Nigerian Bar Association over the demise of three of its members.

The three members are the former Chairman of NBA Abuja, Hauwa Shekarau; Orlu Branch Publicity Secretary, C. D Omekagu-Odumeh Esq; and the Coordinator of the African Women Lawyers Association, (AWLA) Akwa Ibom State, AWLAN Prof. Dorothy Udo Umoatan.

In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Williams said the profession is in its trying times

He said, “Personally I have refused to believe that the very fine and amiable Dr. Hausa Shekarau has passed unto eternity.

“It took me this long to wake up to the realization that she is no more with us. What a life?

“While we were yet to come to terms of the sudden death of Dr Hauwa, the sad news of the gruesome murder of our Orlu Branch Publicity Secretary, C. D Omekagu-Odumeh Esq filled the social media space on same 15th September 2021 that Dr. Hauwa died.

“As if these were not enough, the sad news of the passing unto glory of the Coordinator of the African Women Lawyers Association, (AWLA) Akwa Ibom State, AWLAN Prof. Dorothy Udo Umoatan was announced.

“To me, these are trying periods for Lawyers across the Country.

“It is my prevent prayer that the Almighty God will show us mercy and grant the members of the NBA and the families of our departed colleagues the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses.”
