The Conference of Patriotic Nigerians (COPAN) has hailed the recent elimination of notorious bandit Halilu Sububu as a significant step forward in addressing security challenges in Northwestern Nigeria.

In a press statement, COPAN coordinator Barrister Uchenna Odieli praised the joint efforts of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Police, and other security agencies in carrying out the successful operation.

The operation, which involved both air and ground assaults, resulted in the neutralisation of Sububu, a wanted armed bandit who had been terrorising Zamfara State and its environs.

COPAN emphasised that this action demonstrates the military’s commitment to protecting lives and properties in the region.

General CG Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, received special commendation for his supervisory role in the operation.

COPAN noted that his leadership and strategic thinking were instrumental in the mission’s success, making Zamfara and adjoining states safer.

“This operation once again demonstrates the determination and dexterity of our armed forces in tackling threats to our national security,” Odieli stated.

He added that the military’s actions have significantly improved the lives of citizens in the affected areas.

COPAN also recognised the military’s adherence to rules of engagement during the operation, highlighting the professionalism of the Nigerian armed forces.

The organisation expressed deep gratitude for the troops’ bravery in the face of danger and their unwavering commitment to combating banditry.

The elimination of Sububu and his associates is viewed as a significant blow to banditry in the Northwest, with COPAN describing it as a “significant milestone in our nation’s history.”

The organisation called on Nigerians to continue supporting the armed forces in their efforts to ensure peace and security across the country.
