The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has delivered its judgment affirming Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected Governor of Edo State.

In a unanimous decision, the three-member panel led by Justice W.I. Kpochi dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ighodalo Asuerinme, for lacking merit.

The tribunal ruled that the petitioners failed to prove allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, overvoting, and wrongful exclusion of polling unit results. It emphasized that the PDP did not link critical documents to witnesses and that screenshots from BVAS machines, without proper certification, were inadmissible.

The court also found that the exclusion claims were unsubstantiated, as PDP agents had signed the result sheets without objection. Even after considering the disputed figures, the tribunal confirmed that Okpebholo’s margin of victory remained unshaken.
