The Delta State Government has send a truck pusher, Mr Zubaru Abubaka, to two months in prison while Mrs Mosuratu Omotosho was made to pay N35,000 over indiscriminate refuse disposal.

The Chairman, Delta Waste Management Board and a member of environmental task force, Mr Emma Chinye, disclosed this on Monday when the task force briefed journalists.

He said, “Last week Saturday, we sent a truck pusher to Ogwashi-Uku prison for littering our environment.

“We caught the man with a truck loaded with refuse, we arrested him, and he led us to the woman who contracted him and we arrested her also.

“A mobile court tried them and the woman paid N35,000 fine but the truck pusher could not pay, so we sent him to two months in prison in Ogwashi-Uku”

On their part, the Director General of Asaba Capital Territory, Mrs J. Mrakpor; the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Chris Onogba, and his counterpart in the information ministry, Mr Charles Aniagwu, said the special task force on environmental would demolish unapproved structures to make the state clean for investors.

They urged the residents who had yet to register with Private Sector Participants to do so within the three-day grace notice.

“We have invited the residents, especially the business owners to dialogue with them on what to do; after it elapsed, we gave seven days, it also elapsed. We have given another three days which will elapse on Wednesday. After that, we will embark on demolition so that the state will look neat for our investors” they said.
