Gunmen have brutally beheaded a couple, Jacob Udo and Comfort, in their home in Isiala Community, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, and reports indicate that the assailants dismembered the victims’ bodies after the attack.
Abia State Police spokesperson Maureen Chinaka confirmed the incident, stating that the police have visited the crime scene, recovered evidence, and deposited the bodies at the mortuary. An investigation into the killings is underway.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, condemned the “horrific and senseless” murder, calling it an affront to humanity. He urged authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and emphasized the need for peaceful conflict resolution while encouraging calm among residents to prevent further tensions.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been linked to previous violence in the region, a claim the group denies.
