The Intellectual Property Lawyers Association Nigeria, has appointed Mr. Seyi Arowosebe as Chancellor of the Association’s new Debate Society.

The announcement was made on the 4th of April, 2024 by Mr. Folarin Aluko, Chairman of the IPLAN Board of Trustees. Mr. Aluko noted that the IPLAN Debate Society was established to serve as a community for critical and rigorous examination of policies that affect creativity, innovation and respect for intellectual property rights in Nigeria and Africa.

According to Mr. Aluko, “We are proud to have Mr. Seyi Arowosebe serve as Chancellor of the IPLAN Debate Society. Mr. Arowosebe is a consummate legal practitioner and a member of faculty of the Intellectual Property Institute Nigeria. The Debate society under his watch will interrogate the intended and unintended impacts of laws and policies on creators and the creative industry. This interrogation will provide awareness, scrutiny and enlightenment to IP Stakeholders and the general public.”

Members of the debate society will be exposed to series of trainings, workshops and debates thereby equipping them with quality skills needed to maneuver through a complex and interconnected world. These series of events will also help members build their public speaking skills, broaden their knowledge on a wide spectrum of topics as there will be platforms for intellectual discussions, meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas.

Participation in the IPLAN Debate Society is open to members and non-members of IPLAN, this includes individuals from different fields who are passionate about innovation and would want to participate in open dialogue, open debate, personal development and the free exchange ideas.
