Professor Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has described Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), who died in the early hours of Tuesday, as one of the giants of the legal profession in Nigeria.
Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT, Sagay said the late Akinjide, a former Minister of Education and Attorney-General of the Federation left a good legacy behind which his family will be proud of.
Describing the late legal luminary as a big institution in Nigeria’s political space, Sagay also said Akinjide’s death is a big loss to Nigeria and the legal profession as a whole.
“He was a big institution in Nigeria’s political scene. He was the First Republic Minister of Education and then Second Republic Attorney- General and Minister of Justice.
“He was a huge figure in our political history. For many years, he was the head of the Association of Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
“It is a big loss and we just pray that the family will take consolation in the fact that he left a good legacy behind as one of the giants of the legal profession,” Sagay said
