*New Website Contains Digital Cause Lists, Electronic Notifications For Lawyers
*Set To Accommodate E-filing, Live Coverage Of Court Events Etc.

The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, launched the redesigned website of the Court of Appeal.

The launch of the website which was part of activities to mark the opening of the annual legal year calendrer of the Court of Appeal also had the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN hosted by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem.

Analyzing the features of the redesigned website and its relevance to the dispensation of justice, the website designer, informed guests at the legal year celebration that the new website digitizes the cause lists of the Court of Appeal by uploading such lists the week before hearing dates.

He also added that for Counsels who make their emails available, they shall be notified of any alteration or rescheduling of their appeals to save resources and time spent to come to the Court only to learn of cases being rescheduled.

“The website also contains a judgement portal where all judgements of the Court are uploaded. It contains extensive information about all the divisions, contact persons, their contacts, google map directions to the various divisions, all documents of the court, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Rules of the Court is available of the website” he said.

According to him, “This is to promote the ICT-driven initiative of the current leadership of the Court and the Judiciary in general.
This is just a tip of the iceberg. Eventually, e-filing and all events of the court will be up live on the website.

The CJN subsequently launched the website expressing his belief that “it will improve the generality of humanity, and we shall have the best of it”.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and the President of the NBA, Y.C. Maikyau SAN all commended the Court’s leadership for the initiative and the laudable features of the new website and expressed confidence that it will contribute immensely towards improving the dispensation of justice in the appellate court.
