The NBA Appeals Committee has invited aggrieved candidates at the just concluded NBA general elections to register any such grievance about the elections, with the committee within 7 days.

The announcement comes days after the reconstituting of the committee by the NBA President, Olumide Akpata following an all-committee member’s resignation of the previous Appeals committee led by Mrs. Funmi Roberts on allegation of bias.

In a statement dated August 5, 2022, titled: GUIDELINES FOR HEARING AND DETERMINING COMPLAINT(S) FROM CANDIDATES IN The 2022 NBA NATIONAL ELECTIONS and signed by the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Kalu Agbai, SAN, the committee noted that while the petitioner has 7 days, from the publication of the statement to file any petition, the respondent must reply within 5 days.

Three days is approved for any (further) reply by the petitioner. Expert evidence is also allowed on grounds of availability for cross-examination.

According to the statement, the committee reserves the autonomy to determine any such petition with or without an oral hearing, depending on the nature of the petition.

Promising that the committee looks to deliver on its mandate before the inauguration of the newly elected NBA officers.
